My Mom, Dad, brother Jacob and sister-in-law Ashley traveled up to Michigan to be present for my MBA graduation and luau party. They arrived on Thursday - we hung out at the house most of the day and played a lot of Wii Bowling & Rockband 2. We also had a great dinner of king crab legs, steamed shrimp and rice.
Friday started with a quick trip to Lexington, Michigan to have lunch and check out the sites and shops. We then went home to get ready to head out to my graduation, which was in Flint, MI. (we did A LOT of driving on Friday!!!) The graduation ceremony was Friday night at 7pm - after a nice event we stopped at Lucky's Steakhouse on the way home for a tasty celebration dinner.
Saturday Ashley, Mama and I did a little shopping for Michigan souvenirs, then we headed home to set up for my graduation luau party. The weather was a bit cold, but we still had a great time eating the Hawaiian food (provided by Chef Chell's Catering, it was delicious!), catching up with friends and of course playing some more Wii bowling. Even my Mom gave it a try - she was actually quite good!
Sunday we relaxed and packed up everyone's belongings - we stopped in Greektown on the way to the airport. We had a great dinner at Pegasus, then checked out the Greektown Casino and some other downtown Detroit sites. It was a fun and busy weekend and I am so happy my Mom, Dad, Jake and Ashley were here to share this special time with me. I will post some pictures soon!!!

Memorial Weekend 2009
Jason & I have had a busy weekend filled with some fun & a lot of chores. On Saturday, we went to see the Tigers play the Rockies (unfortunately, they lost 3-4) and then stopped by Mary & Brian's going away party after the game. A nice man behind us offered to take a picture of us at the game. It's not the best pic, but we rarely get photos of us together.... so here it is :-)
On Sunday we got busy cleaning the house .... we have a lot of visitors coming over the next two weeks, so we wanted to get everything looking nice for their arrival. On Monday, we had lunch at Cracker Barrel, then stopped by a local green house and purchased some flowers for our deck. We spent the evening planting the flowers & sanding 2 rocking chairs and a table (and took a short break to grill some delicious kabobs!). Here are a few pics:
Anyone that knows me is aware of my love for calla lilies ... let's hope I don't kill them! :-)
Even have the flag ready for my Graduation Luau!!!

It's official - my MBA program is OVER!
I have OFFICIALLY finished my MBA program ..... I just logged on and saw my final grades for my last class. After countless hours of research, writing and revisions, I received a "97" on my final project, and an A in the class! Graduation is scheduled for Friday June 5th & the party will be the day after, Saturday June 6th. I am really looking forward to celebrating this accomplishment with Jason, my family and friends - the only thing that could make it better would be for everyone I care about to be here with me!
I'll keep everyone updated and be sure to post some pictures of the graduation ceremony & the party. For now, it feels GREAT to have NO MORE HOMEWORK .... the song "School's Out" is ringing in my ears! :-)

A quick update....
Things have been quite busy for us lately, which is why I have not updated the blog in a while. Jason is still working all of the time, plus he is taking a "Human Geography" class through Hawaii Pacific online. I am finishing up my LAST MBA class & am teaching 4 classes at the local college ( 3 math, 1 reading).
Once school ends for me next week (May 13th) I will be a lot better about posting updates. But for now, it's back to my homework! :-)
Hope everyone is doing well, we miss & love you all!

Detroit Tigers Opening Weekend 2009
Jason & I attended our first Tigers game of the season on Easter Sunday. The Tigers played the Texas Rangers for their opening home weekend, and won all three games! Here are a few pics from the game on Sunday:

Jason's School Update
I am making my first official posting on our blog! I would like to let everyone know that in addition to the crazy schedule that I keep as a Marine Recruiter, I have also started my second 5 week online course at Hawaii Pacific University. My degree course is headed toward Computer Information Systems. I guess that officially makes me a computer nerd. There is no need in fighting that anymore I suppose. My plan is to have my degree before I retire from the Marines so I can get another job. Hope everyone is doing OK!
